Rotor-Tech International (RTI), part of the Advanced Composite Structures (ACS) Group of Companies has been diligently preparing its Brisbane, Australia facility for an opening of early May 2022. The impressive 22,000 square foot facility is equipped for repair of all makes and models of helicopter rotor blades under one roof, with its state-of-the-art facility layout being second to none.
The 3-stage layout includes: tear-down and inspection, repair centre, and refinish and balance. The newly renovated facility includes dustless sanders, a climatically controlled repair centre, blade bonding fixtures, a heated paint booth for quick cure times, enabling turnaround times to be kept to a minimum and in-house revolutionary balance equipment.
RTI Brisbane has been growing its team and currently has employees who bring over 50 years of combined rotor blade repair experience. Currently, on-site is Slobodan Oravec, the GM from ACS Canada, to provide the team with essential hands-on training. The team is concurrently setting up tooling and inducting goods and materials into the company’s internal database. Balance fixtures have arrived from the engineering hub in Canada and are currently being set up and put into their final positions in the repair centre.
A major stage that is approaching fast is RTI Brisbane hosting CASA who will conduct their on-site inspection, the last leg of the approval journey that will allow for the issuance of RTI Brisbane’s certificate of approval.
